Nichola has recently set up an art studio at her home in Stony Stratford, and more importantly given herself time to create in it!

Influences from different periods of her creative life are coming out in her work today.

Bold graphic lines and the love of mark making, were very much featured in work created during her art foundation course at Nene College, Northampton, back in the 80’s.

The layering of texture and colour, once captured by sandwiching hand drawn images between layers of perspex in her jewellery designs.

The enjoyment of collecting and arranging beautiful objects, one of her favourite parts of the process, is very much influenced by her visual merchandising days at Habitat.

After eighteen years of working as a teaching assistant, often co-ordinating art projects across the school, Nichola is now concentrating on her art clubs and creating her own work.

Her current collection uses acrylic paint and pieces of cardboard to print the outlines and texture. Layers of colours are applied using chalk pastels with strong shadows added as the final detail.
